“In each country, the ILO will work with constituents to put decent work at the heart of economic and social policies!”
Nepal joined the ILO in 1966. The organization was represented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Untill 1990, the ILO did not have a formal country programme, when there was no genuine tripartite framework for the ILO to operate. The technical assistance programme was limited to human resource planning and training needs assessment. Tripartite framework was established only after 1990, which provided the ILO with new opportunities to work with its partners in areas of employment promotion, cooperative development, small enterprise development, labour policy and administration and vocational training, advocacy, policy and social dialogue. In view of these increasing opportunities and subsequently enlarged portfolio of the ILO programmes, the Office of the Senior ILO Advisor was established in Nepal in January 1994.

The report by the International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour (IPEC) of the International Labour Office (ILO) will provide latest estimates on the number of girls in child labour and detail the exploitative forms of child labour facing them.
